Silver Pines Demo Walkthrough: Diner to Cable Car, Step by Step

The Silver Pines demo is a free slice of the game’s opening on Steam — roughly the first chapter, ending on the cable car. This walkthrough follows the critical path and flags every code, key item and save point along the way. Spoilers ahead.

What do you do at the diner?

Wake up, talk, and listen. Red Walker comes to in a diner as an emergency broadcast plays — the town is under an evacuation order and a storm is rolling in. The broadcast is your premise: most of Silver Pines has already left, and the people still here know more than they’re saying. Check the payphone before you leave — the demo teaches you early that phones are how you save, and they cost spare change.

How do you get into the Crimson Bear Motel?

Follow the street to the motel — it’s the demo’s centerpiece. A guest checked in under the Velvet name, so this is where the Eddie Velvet trail leads. You’ll need the Grizzly Suite keycard to reach the relevant rooms; explore the office and upper walkway for notes, cash and supplies. The motel hides a pool area (poolside key), a game room, a fuse box, and a safe — code 7155 as reported in demo playthroughs, worth verifying on your own run.

What does the motel’s power puzzle want?

Find the fuse and restore power. A fuse from the fuse box opens the motel’s powered areas. While you hunt for it, watch your inventory — space is limited, so combine items (like tape repairs) and drop what you don’t need. Rusted padlocks block optional rooms; some padlocks can be shot off if you can spare the ammo.

What about G’s Pharmacy and the store?

G’s Pharmacy and Rodney’s General Store are your restock loop. The general store’s supply cabinet takes code 66 — you’re told this over the phone. This is also where the demo leans on its save economy: phones cost change, so keep a few coins on you.

How do you reach the ferry office?

Through the underpass. The underground passage connects the store side of town to the waterfront — it’s dark, so keep your flashlight up and expect company. The ferry office is where the demo’s last objective lands before the finale.

How does the demo end?

On the cable car. Reporting in at the ferry office leads to the cable car sequence that closes the demo — and teases the larger town, the storm, and whatever is making the nightmares. The full game continues from here on October 8, 2026.

What carries over to the full game?

Nothing official has been said about demo progress carrying into release. Treat the demo as a standalone preview — and if you want the mechanics drilled deeper before launch, read our guides to saving, combat and reloading, and every puzzle solution.
